Ingredients
It’s time to gather all the ingredients needed to make this Key Lime Pie Dip. I’ll walk you through the ingredients I used below.
- Cream cheese – Gives the dip its rich and creamy base with a slight tang that balances the lime beautifully.
- Sweetened condensed milk – Adds sweetness and a smooth, luscious texture that brings everything together without needing extra sugar. You can add more or less to adjust the sweetness of your drip.
- Fresh lime juice – Delivers that signature tart flavor that makes key lime pie so irresistible! Normally, I don’t recommend bottled juice, but this one is the best and works great here.
- Lime zest – Adds a burst of bright citrus aroma and flavor that really lifts the whole dip.
- Pure vanilla extract – A splash of vanilla gives a soft warmth and rounds out the citrus and cream.
- Salt – Just a pinch helps balance the sweetness and sharpness for a well-rounded flavor.
- Heavy whipping cream – When whipped, it lightens the dip and adds that soft, fluffy texture that makes it so scoopable.
- Powdered sugar – Used to sweeten the whipped cream without making it grainy or heavy.
- Toasted shredded coconut – Sprinkled on top for a bit of texture and a hint of tropical flair.
- Graham crackers, vanilla wafer cookies, and fresh fruit – Perfect for dipping—these pair so nicely with the creamy lime filling and give guests a few fun options from which to choose. The vanilla wafer cookies were my personal favorite.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to use key limes?
Key limes are traditional and have a slightly more floral, tart flavor, but regular limes will work just fine. Most people won’t notice the difference.
Can I make this dip ahead of time?
Yes! You can make the dip up to a day in advance. Just keep it covered and chilled in the refrigerator. Add the garnish and set out the dippers just before serving for the best presentation.
How should I store leftovers?
Leftover dip should be stored in an airtight container in the fridge. It will keep well for about three days. Give it a gentle stir before serving again, especially if any separation has occurred.
Can I leave out the coconut?
Absolutely. The toasted coconut is just a garnish, so if you’re not a fan or serving someone with an allergy, you can skip it completely. You could also top this dip with crushed graham crackers, extra lime zest, or even a few white chocolate shavings for something different.

Made this for a “dippable” theme night at my work. (a fire department) It took less than half an hour for 9 firefighters to devour the whole bowl, I’m pretty sure someone even licked the bowl clean!
