Chicken, bacon, and ranch create one of my favorite flavor combos! Consequently, I put the three together and packed them into adorable wonton cups to make these tasty Chicken Bacon Ranch Wonton Cups. They are a delicious yet simple appetizer recipe you’ll love for entertaining.
I’ve had appetizers on the brain recently. Which, to be honest, is not surprising since appetizers and desserts are two of my favorite things.
One of my favorite appetizer recipes is these Artichoke Wonton Wrappers that I shared years ago here on Inspired by Charm. They are a recipe my mom used to make on Christmas Eve and I still love them to this day. The making and sharing of that artichoke wonton recipe inspired me to use the concept of wonton wrappers to make little cups and in turn create these Sausage Wonton Bites. They are packed with flavor!
Today it is time for round three as I am going to share these Chicken Bacon Ranch Wonton Cups. As I mentioned above, I love the combination of chicken, bacon, and ranch so I knew this would be another flavorful way to use these wonton wrappers.
These Chicken Bacon Ranch Wonton Cups check all those boxes and then some. Whether you’re hosting a party, need a game-day snack, or just want something fun to serve for movie night, these little bites are always a hit.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- Chicken, bacon, and ranch is a flavor combination that rarely misses, and it really shines here. Each bite is creamy, savory, and just the right amount of indulgent. It’s one of those combos that feels familiar, but still has a little flair. It’s the kind of appetizer that gets people asking for the recipe.
- These wonton cups look impressive but come together with simple ingredients and minimal effort. Using store-bought wonton wrappers makes the process extra easy without sacrificing quality. You’ll get a beautiful result that feels a little gourmet—without actually having to do anything fussy. It’s a win for both the cook and the guests.
- They’re bite-sized and perfectly portioned, making them ideal for parties, holidays, or game-day spreads. You can serve them warm right from the oven or prep a batch ahead of time and reheat when needed. People love grabbing them, and they disappear fast. It’s one of those recipes that’s just as fun to serve as it is to eat.
- There’s also room to play around with the ingredients, which makes this recipe easy to adapt to your taste or what you have on hand. Swap in a different cheese, use rotisserie chicken, or add a dash of hot sauce if you’re feeling bold. Even with a little tweaking, the result is always delicious.

Ingredients
Let’s gather up all the things you’ll need to make these Chicken Bacon Ranch Wonton Cups.
- Wonton wrappers – These form the crispy, golden shell that holds all the flavorful filling—convenient and easy to work with.
- Cooked chicken – Chopped or shredded chicken adds protein and heartiness; a great way to use up leftovers or grab a rotisserie chicken.
- Cooked bacon – Crispy, crumbled bacon brings smoky, savory richness that pairs perfectly with the creamy ranch.
- Shredded cheddar cheese – Cheddar melts into the filling to add sharp, cheesy goodness in every bite.
- Buttermilk Ranch Heluva Good! Dip – This creamy dip is the star of the show, tying everything together with tangy, herby flavor.
- Chopped red pepper – A little bit of diced red pepper gives these cups a pop of color and a subtle sweetness.
- Sliced green onions – Green onions bring a mild onion flavor and a fresh bite that balances the richness of the filling.
- Salt and pepper – Just a pinch of each helps enhance and round out all the other flavors.
- Chopped parsley– Used as a garnish, parsley adds a fresh, vibrant finish that makes these feel extra special.

And that’s a wrap!
If you’re anything like me, once you try these, you’ll start thinking about all the other ways to use wonton wrappers. They’re such a fun and easy ingredient to keep around, and they open the door to so many creative little appetizers. But if you’re starting here, you’re in for a real treat—this is the kind of recipe that earns you rave reviews with very little fuss.

Recipe Notes
Here are a few notes and tips to help you with this recipe.
- I found it easiest to add the garnish of ranch dip by using a piping bag (or plastic baggie with the corner cut off). This method is much easier than portioning it off with a spoon.
- If you don’t have access to Buttermilk Ranch Heluva Good! Dip you can make your own. Combine 1 cup sour cream, 1/2 cup mayonnaise, and about 1.5 tablespoons of ranch seasoning mix. Stir to combine.
- Pressing the wonton wrappers into the mini muffin pans can be a bit tricky, so please reference the image below. If you attempt to just press the wonton wrapper into the cup, it’s going to tear. You want to pinch the wrapper together into the flower shape shown above, insert it into the baking cup, and then gently press it into place. With this method, I had no tears.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to cook the chicken and bacon ahead of time?
Yes, both should be fully cooked before adding them to the filling. This recipe is a great way to use up leftover chicken or a store-bought rotisserie. For the bacon, make sure it’s cooked crisp so it holds its texture when baked.
Can I freeze these wonton cups?
Technically, yes—once baked and cooled, they can be frozen in a single layer, then transferred to an airtight container or freezer bag. Reheat from frozen in a 350°F oven for 10–12 minutes. Just note they’re best fresh for the crispiest texture.
How can I keep the wonton wrappers from getting soggy?
Be sure to bake the empty wrappers first (like in the recipe!)—this gives them a head start and helps create that crisp outer shell. Also, avoid overfilling the cups with the mixture. A heaping tablespoon is just right and keeps the moisture in check.
Can I swap out the ranch dip for something else?
Absolutely. If you can’t find the Heluva Good! dip, you can use your favorite thick ranch dressing or even a homemade ranch dip. Just make sure it’s thick enough to hold up in the filling and not too runny.
What’s the best way to transport these to a party?
Let them cool slightly, then carefully place them in a shallow container lined with parchment or foil. If you need to reheat at your destination, pop them on a baking sheet in a low oven for a few minutes. Garnish with ranch and parsley just before serving for the freshest look.

These sound amazing, but can they be made into a cold app? I have to transport them to a condo clubhouse and there is no oven. 🙁
I wouldn’t recommend these as a cold appetizer.

made these last night for a dinner party and they were wonderful!! We dont have ranch where i live so i replaced it with cream cheese and added some yummy generic curry spices to give it a fun twist! everyone loved these x fabulously easy to make and prep day or two before x
I was asked to bring an appetizer to a dinner to which we had been invited. I needed a “lighter” appetizer as the main entree was to be lasagna. I saw this recipe and thought it would be perfect. Our local supermarket did not carry wonton wrappers, and I was unable to get to the Chinese market during the week. I used phyllo cups in place of the wonton wrappers. These appetizers were a big hit! Thank you for a delicious recipe!
Great substitution idea! So glad you enjoyed them!!

This will be a nice addition to my sausage wontons. Can’t wait to prepare.
Note : I use a tapered shot glass to press wontons into cups.
Is there a way to make these ahead of time and reheat? Obviously waiting for the dollop and garnish after reheating.
Thanks for sharing a perfect recipe with us. This is so tasty….
You’re so welcome, Willow! Thank you.
