I don’t know about you, but I LOVE a snack mix. In the past, I’ve made a sweet mix such as my peanut butter pretzel puppy chow, and a salty mix such as my parmesan ranch snack mix. Today I am combining the two flavors to create this Sweet and Salty Fall Snack Mix. And since it’s fall, I am adding in a few seasonal goodies!
I put together this fall snack mix when my mom was visiting. Let me tell you, neither one of us could keep our hands off of it. The combo mix is so good. I sent her home with half of the batch because I knew that if it was left at my house, I would eat through the entire jar in no time at all.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- This snack mix brings together the ideal balance of flavors, where the sweetness of candy corn and marshmallows pairs beautifully with the salty crunch of pretzels and cereal. Each bite is a delightful mix that satisfies every craving.
- With just a few steps, you can whip up a batch of this snack mix in no time. It’s straightforward, easy to follow, and perfect even for those last-minute gatherings or a quick homemade gift.
- It’s a wonderful combination of ingredients! This mix is a winning blend of salty and sweet with just a kiss of fall flavor thanks to a bit of cinnamon and maple syrup. It’s a seasonal twist that elevates the classic sweet and salty combination, making it even more enjoyable.
- Whether you’re hosting a party, packing it up as a gift, or just want something delicious to snack on at home, this mix is versatile enough to fit any occasion. Plus, it’s a hit with both kids and adults, making it a go-to for any fall event.

Ingredients
The thing I love the most about snack mixes is that you can completely customize them with all the ingredients YOU love. Here’s what I used in my sweet and salty fall snack mix:
- Peanut Butter Corn Chex: These add a crunchy texture and a subtle peanut butter flavor that pairs perfectly with the sweet elements in the mix.
- Wheat Chex: A hearty and slightly nutty cereal that adds a satisfying crunch and balances the sweetness in the mix.
- Bite-Size Pretzels: Classic pretzels bring that salty contrast, making each bite a perfect blend of sweet and savory.
- Cheez-It Crackers: These cheesy crackers add a bold flavor and a crispy texture, enhancing the savory side of this snack mix. I know that using cheddar cheese crackers with a sweet mix might sound a bit odd, but trust me, it’s wonderful!
- Honey Nut O’s Cereal: A touch of honey sweetness with a satisfying crunch that complements the other ingredients.
- Unsalted Butter: Melted butter helps the seasonings stick to the mix and adds a rich, buttery flavor to every bite.
- Light Brown Sugar: Adds sweetness with a hint of molasses that gives depth and warmth to the mix.
- Maple Syrup: A splash of maple syrup infuses the mix with that signature fall flavor, enhancing the overall taste.
- Kosher Salt: A pinch of salt brings out the sweetness and balances the flavors, ensuring each bite is perfectly seasoned.
- Cinnamon: This warm spice adds a subtle, cozy flavor that ties all the ingredients together, making the mix feel extra special.
- Mini Marshmallows: Soft and sweet, these marshmallows add a chewy texture that contrasts with the crunchier elements.
- Candy Corn: A quintessential fall treat that adds a pop of color and sweetness, making the mix festive and fun.
- Reeses Pieces: These candies add a burst of peanut butter flavor and a bit of crunch, rounding out the sweet elements in the mix.
As I mentioned above, feel free to make substitutions and/or leave out ingredients that aren’t your favorites. If you do this, try and fill in with other ingredients to create the same amount. For example, if you’re not a fan of candy corn, remove it and add an extra cup of peanut butter candies. If you don’t like pretzels, leave them out and add two cups of mini graham crackers.

I had reservations about the peanut butter and the cheese together, but this stuff is really good.
i dont care for wheat chex so i used corn chex and was really good.
Just made this to put in fall treat bags for my coworkers. Tastes fantastic!! Very easy to make

I made this for a party. Delicious mix and really pretty in jars. I skipped adding the marshmallows, I just didn’t feel like the texture would be right.
This was insanely good! My store was out of PB Chex so I subbed cinnamon and added in peanuts. We can’t stop eating it ☺️
This is delicious! I’ve made it several times with different cereals, nuts, popcorn, etc. Total crowd pleaser. Thank you!
This was so yummy! However, I did choose to omit all the candy/sweet items at the end and instead add salted popcorn and dried cranberries at the end – wanted something less sweet. Have already made two batches with rave reviews!
So smart! I love that idea!

My coworker brought this in for a snack this week…so good, and addicting. I had to get the recipe for myself.
This looks great! Cant wait to try it! We are having a fall party and I’m wondering how far in advance I could make this?
You can make this a few days in advance. If you want the marshmallows to be super fresh, I would add them before serving.

This looks amazing and I’m having a Halloween party this year. Please clarify what the peanut butter candy pieces are? I want to make it exactly as you did!! Thank you!!!
Reeses Pieces 🙂

I can’t wait to make this mix this week! I love the Bell jars with wooden lids; I’ve never seen them before; they are so cool! I love getting your emails and following you on Instagram! Question: do you think adding dry roasted peanuts would mess up this blend you’ve created? I won’t add if you think it would spoil the taste!
Incredible! This might be my new favorite snack mix. Now I need to try the parmesan one.
Yay! So happy to hear that! Thank you!
xo Michael
I rushed out to get everything to make this for my family. We just love snacks like this. Would love to know where you got such great Halloween bags. Would love to have some on hand for the Trick or Tr eaters.
Yay!! Enjoy it! To be honest I don’t remember where I got the bags. They are a couple years old. I think it was a little speciality store, but I don’t remember. Try searching Etsy or Amazon and I’m sure you’ll find something.
