Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this salad ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare the cranberry and sugar mixture up to a day in advance and store it in the refrigerator. For the best texture, whip the cream and fold it in just before serving. This will keep the salad light and fluffy.

Can I use frozen cranberries instead of fresh?

I wouldnโ€™t recommend it. I think fresh is best for this recipe.

How should I store leftovers?

Store any leftover salad in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two days. While the texture may soften slightly, it will still taste delicious. Give it a gentle stir before serving again.

Can I substitute a different type of nut for the pecans?

Yes, you can use walnuts if you prefer. Just make sure to toast them for a richer flavor and extra crunch.

What if I donโ€™t have a food processor?

If you donโ€™t have a food processor, you can finely chop the cranberries by hand or use a blender, pulsing carefully to avoid over-processing. The goal is to achieve a coarse chop for the right texture.

Do the pulsed cranberries release a lot of juice? Do you drain or incorporate the liquid into the mixture?
